Do greyhounds need a lot of exercise?

Greyhounds are quite lazy in general and only really need 2 x 20 minute walks a day though will do more if you want them to.

They are normally anywhere from about 18 months upwards when they retire. Some might be younger as they prefer the sofa to racing.

We do rehome with cats and other small animals though sometimes it does take a little longer to find the right one. Look in our gallery and guess who is the boss

We provide a lead, muzzle and coat. All dogs are neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. The microchip will also be re registered to the new owner as well. We now also offer 4 weeks free Pet plan insurance to get you started.

Like any organisation we rely on donations to look after the hounds before they retire. We normally ask for a minimum donation of £150 for which you get a lead, muzzle and coat. All you then need is a bed and food.

We do not recommend this as they may still chase and ignore your calls to come back. The other danger is that they can get injured very easily if they catch on anything or get their feet in a hole.

As part of the process, we do carry out home checks to ensure the accommodation is suitable and that the garden is secure. Greyhounds do not do stairs very well so normally limit to 1st-floor flats only.

Some kennels do board and we find they are more settled due to being in an environment they have been used. The staff at these kennels are also used to the breed and what the pampered needs are. One based in Wickford we work with is based at the Gable Kennel who can be contacted on 01268 732039.

Absolutely yes. We do not discriminate on age or ability. What we try to do is match the right dog for your lifestyle. We have a number of older dogs available who need less excercise and happy just enjoying being in your company

We specialise if finding homes not only in the UK but across Europe, USA and Canada and beyond. Where possible we do work with other like minded rehoming partners but individual enquiries are also welcome. We complete remote home checks andf can complete all vaccination/paperwork to enable a hound to travel. Some dogs we would not send abroad due to age/injury or temperament but do contact us for more details.
